Jet2 Marks 15 Years of Croatia Flight Services

Beginning in May 2009 with just 2 routes, Jet2 has now celebrated 15 years of flight services between the UK and Croatia.

In May 2009, Jet2.com touched down in Dubrovnik for the first time, marking the beginning of what has become a successful partnership with Croatia.

Shortly after, their inaugural flight to Split took off from Newcastle International Airport. Today, 15 years later, the leading leisure airline celebrates a remarkable journey – operating award-winning flights to this beautiful destination.

From Two Routes to a Thriving Network

Since those early days with just two Croatian routes, Jet2 has witnessed tremendous growth. Together with Jet2holidays, the UK’s largest tour operator, they’ve flown millions of happy holidaymakers to Croatia.

Currently, the combined companies offer 13 routes to Croatia (focusing on Dubrovnik and Split) from eight convenient UK airports: Belfast International, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester, and Newcastle International.

This extensive network caters to a diverse range of travelers, making it easier than ever for Britons to discover the wonders of Croatia, from the charming walled city of Dubrovnik to the bustling port city of Split.

Summer Peak Season: Expanded Options

Summer 24 promises to be a busy one, with up to 36 weekly flights departing to Dubrovnik and Split at peak periods.

Notably, five of these routes are exclusive to Jet2: Belfast International to Dubrovnik, and Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, and London Stansted to Split.

This increased frequency ensures travelers can find the perfect flight to match their schedule, maximizing their time exploring Croatia’s stunning coastline, historic cities, and captivating natural beauty.

Jet2 and Croatia: Continuing Success

The strong bond between Jet2 and Croatia is evident in the words of Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board (CNTB).

“For the last 15 years, Croatia and Great Britain have been successfully connected by Jet2.com, the leading British leisure airline.”

He highlights the airline’s role in “successfully connecting Croatia and Great Britain” and their strategic partnership’s positive impact on tourism.

“CNTB’s long-term strategic partnership with this prestigious airline significantly encourages the growth of the number of arrivals of British tourists to Croatia,” he said.

This collaboration positions Croatia as a “safe, accessible and attractive” destination, further enhanced by Jet2’s commitment to expanding services to popular spots like Split and Dubrovnik.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, expresses gratitude for the partnerships that have fueled their success.

“This year marks 15 years since we started operating to Croatia, when we had just two routes on sale.”

“Today, we operate a popular programme of flights and holidays to Croatia from the UK and have flown millions of customers to this magnificent destination.”

He acknowledges the crucial role of hoteliers, airports, tourist boards, and all their Croatian partners.

“Such growth and success over the last decade and a half would not be possible without the fantastic partnerships we have in Croatia,” said Heapy.

Looking ahead, Jet2 remains dedicated to this collaborative approach, aiming to bring even more travelers to this magnificent destination.

Pula Joins the Party: Expanding Horizons in Croatia

Responding to the ever-growing demand for Croatian holidays, Jet2 and Jet2holidays announced an exciting addition to their portfolio last year: Pula.

Starting Summer 25, this addition will give holidaymakers and travel agents even greater choice and flexibility when planning their dream Croatian getaway, with flights departing from Birmingham, Manchester, and London Stansted airports.
