Descending Out of FL130: Cork Diversion?

In the last few moments, Jet2 flight LS176 from Tenerife to Glasgow has declared an emergency off the south Coast of Ireland.

LS176 looks to be descending out of FL130, with the nearest airfield for diversion being Cork at present.

Cork Confirmed…

LS176 is confirmed to be diverting to Cork Airport in Ireland. The flight is passing through 9,000 feet and looks to be setting up for an approach onto Runway 34.

About G-JZBD… The Jet2 Aircraft Involved in the Emergency on LS176 Tenerife-Glasgow…

G-JZBD is the aircraft involved in this incident.

Moreover, as per Planespotters, G-JZBD is a 6.7 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the airline in November 2017.

Of the 737-800 variant, LS has 98 of them in the fleet.

Furthermore, of that 98, all but two are in active service, with an average fleet age of 14.8 years.

TOUCHDOWN! LS176 has appeared to have safely touched down into it’s diversion field of Cork following it’s emergency call not too long ago.

Furthermore, the cause of the emergency is not yet known.

LS176 is expected to depart Cork again at 0245 local time based on what the flight status tracker is saying.

Furthermore, this would give an arrival back into Glasgow at 0353 local time.
