Jet2 Flight Declares Emergency at Manchester: Hydraulic Failure

A Jet2 flight inbound from Tenerife declared an emergency on its approach into Manchester this morning following a hydraulic failure.

A Jet2 flight operating from Tenerife to Manchester declared an emergency on approach to Manchester airport early this morning, 19 June 2024.

The Jet2 emergency involved flight LS846, a Boeing 200 inbound from Tenerife South Airport (TFE).

Flight crew squawked the emergency transponder code 7700 whilst established in the descent over Welsh airspace.

Because of the emergency was reportedly a hydraulic issue with the aircraft. Having declared an emergency, the flight continued a descent and approach to the destination Manchester airport (MAN).

According to the online reporting source Flight Emergency, flight crew extended the landing gear manually.

The approach and landing was then continued under emergency priority with transponder code 7700. It is understood that the aircraft was then placed undertow after it landed at Manchester.

Flight Details

Flight data shows that Jet2 flight LS846 made an on-time departure out of Tenerife South Airport (TSE) at 2018 local time on 18 June.

The flight then continued normally and flight crew climb to the aircraft to flight level FL380 (38,000 feet) for the northerly route to the United Kingdom.

Descent and initial approach procedures were then conducted normally. Flight crew squawked emergency code 7700 at 23:44 BST as the aircraft passed through FL260 on descent.

The aircraft conducting the LS846 service to Manchester was a Boeing 757-200, registered G-LSAK.

This is a 27.6-year-old aircraft belonging to the UK carrier Jet2. It has been in operational service with the airline since June 2012.

The aircraft was originally operated by US carrier American Trans Air following its initial factory delivery in November 1996.
