Turkish Technic, a top-tier maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) provider, has signed a landmark agreement with Rolls-Royce, a global leader in aircraft engine manufacturing.

This deal will establish a cutting-edge, authorized engine maintenance center at Istanbul Airport. The collaboration strengthens Turkish Technic’s position as an industry leader and elevates Türkiye’s role as a hub for advanced aviation services.

Operations Commencement in 2027

The new facility, set to be operational by late 2027, will focus on maintaining Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engines. These power the Airbus A350 and A330neo aircraft, widely used by airlines worldwide.

With a capacity to handle over 200 engine shop visits annually, the center will be one of the largest in the region.

It will serve Turkish Airlines’ fleet and third-party Rolls-Royce TotalCare customers globally, expanding Turkish Technic’s reach in the MRO market.

This project will also drive economic growth. The facility will create numerous jobs, fostering a skilled workforce and supporting local supply chains.

By nurturing domestic engineering talent, it will contribute to Türkiye’s growing reputation in high-tech aviation industries.

A Milestone for Turkish Technic

Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of Turkish Technic’s Board and Executive Committee, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “We are excited to collaborate with Rolls-Royce, a world-renowned engine manufacturer.”

“Their expertise will enhance our maintenance operations significantly,” he said. “This new facility equips us to service a broad range of Trent engines, meeting the aviation industry’s evolving demands.”

“This partnership solidifies our leadership in the MRO sector and ensures we continue delivering top-quality service to customers worldwide.”

The agreement aligns with Turkish Technic’s mission to expand its capabilities and maintain its reputation for excellence. It gains the benefit of Rolls-Royce’s advanced technology and expertise.

Rolls-Royce Commitment to Growth

Rob Watson, President of Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, spoke of the strategic importance of the partnership. “We are expanding our global MRO network to meet growing demand by 2030. Adding Turkish Technic to our network is a key step in this journey,” he noted.

“This facility will support our TotalCare customers and reinforce our strong relationship with Turkish Airlines, whose A350 fleet will benefit from these services.”

Watson also emphasized Rolls-Royce’s commitment to Türkiye. In April 2024, the company outlined plans for industrial initiatives in the country.

This agreement marks a significant milestone in that vision, showcasing confidence in Turkish Technic’s ability to deliver world-class MRO services. “We warmly welcome Turkish Technic to our growing network of Trent engine maintenance centers,” Watson added.

Conclusion

The new maintenance center clearly represents a leap forward for Turkish Technic and Türkiye’s aviation industry. By combining Rolls-Royce’s engineering prowess with Turkish Technic’s operational expertise, the facility will deliver unmatched service quality.

It will also position Istanbul Airport as a global hub for aviation maintenance, attracting airlines and MRO customers from around the world.

This partnership also underscores Turkish Technic’s dedication to innovation and excellence. As the facility takes shape, it will create opportunities for skilled professionals and strengthen Türkiye’s role in the global aviation landscape.
