LONDON – Earlier tonight, a Lufthansa Airbus A319 was met by emergency crews following its return to Frankfurt am Main.

D-AILM was the Airbus A319 in question operating LH612 to Baku.

Around 20 minutes after departure, the aircraft reached a cruise altitude of 31,000 feet before turning back to Frankfurt, based on data from RadarBox.com.

The aircraft didn’t transmit an emergency squawk code (7500, 7600, or 7700), so it is unclear what the reason for the return was.

AviationSource writer and photographer Joris Wendt was coincidentally flying out of Frankfurt when the emergency came in. You can see the footage below.

The footage also shows the vast number of emergency crews that met the aircraft, although this was probably a precautionary measure.

AviationSource has approached Lufthansa for a comment on the reason for the return.

This is a developing story.
