The Iberia Group set a new milestone in 2024, transporting over 30.7 million passengers across its three airlines: Iberia, Iberia Express, and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum.

This remarkable achievement stems from rising business and leisure travel demand, along with strong performance across all markets. This was particularly evident in Latin America and newly launched routes.

Success in Latin American Sector

Breaking down the numbers, Iberia carried 18.7 million passengers, while Iberia Express and Air Nostrum transported 7.7 million and 4.4 million passengers respectively.

The group’s success was particularly notable in Latin America, where Iberia increased capacity by 16% in 2024, offering 5.3 million seats across 320 weekly flights to 18 Latin American destinations.

This significant expansion in Latin American routes demonstrates the airline’s commitment to strengthening its position as a leading carrier between Europe and the region.

2024 Route Additions

The group’s strategic expansion in 2024 included several new routes, with Japan becoming a significant addition in October, alongside European destinations such as Tirana, Ljubljana, Salzburg, Innsbruck, and Tromso.

These new routes have not only broadened the airline’s global footprint but also provided passengers with enhanced travel options and connectivity.

Domestically, Iberia Express excelled in Canary and Balearic Islands routes, while Air Nostrum strengthened regional connectivity throughout Spain and Europe, ensuring comprehensive coverage of both tourist and business destinations.

Beatriz Guillén, Iberia’s Global Sales Director, emphasized the importance of customer service. “Delivering excellence to our millions of customers reflects our core values of commitment, service, and excellence. Our success spans from Latin America to North America, Europe, and now Japan.”

“This achievement stems from the dedication of every Iberia employee who helps fulfill our customer commitments. The record numbers we’re seeing validate our strategy of balanced growth across all markets.”

Punctuality Rankings

The group’s operational excellence was further highlighted by its outstanding punctuality performance.

The group dominated European punctuality rankings in 2024, with Iberia Express leading with an impressive 84.69% on-time arrival rate. This makes it Europe’s most punctual airline and the world’s most punctual low-cost carrier, according to Cirium’s On-time Performance Report.

Iberia secured second place in Europe with 81.58% punctuality across 183,268 flights, ranking eighth globally. This dual achievement in punctuality underscores the group’s operational efficiency and commitment to reliable service.

These achievements are particularly noteworthy given the industry’s significant challenges throughout 2024, including European airspace regulations, airport congestion, air traffic control disputes, and global spare parts shortages.

Despite these obstacles, the group maintained its high standards of service and operational excellence.

A Nod to Iberia Personnel

Carlos Gómez, CEO of Iberia Express, attributed this success to team effort: “This achievement reflects our commitment to customer service and our team’s dedication. From flight crews to operational staff, everyone has contributed to maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and excellence.”

“While we’re operating more flights than ever, we remain focused on consistency and superior customer experience. Looking ahead, we’ll continue working together to maintain these outstanding results.”

The record-breaking passenger numbers and exceptional punctuality ratings position the Iberia Group strongly for future growth. The Group showcased its resilience and ability to excel even in challenging market conditions in 2024.

The airline group’s continued focus on expansion, operational excellence, and customer service suggests a promising trajectory for the year ahead.
