Return to Manchester Airport (MAN)
As it began the North Sea transit, flight crew terminated the climb procedure. They then initiated a turnaround to make a precautionary return to Manchester.
It is understood that a technical issue prompted the early termination of the flight. Specific details of the problem are yet to be confirmed.
Flight crew carried out a descent to facilitate the return, and the aircraft then entered holding procedures. This was effected to the north-west of Manchester airport in order to burn fuel for the early return.
Having completed the fuel burn off, the flight then made an approach to Manchester Airport. Emergency ground assets met the flight upon its arrival.
Social media footage shows emergency vehicles escorting the aircraft upon arrival.
The flight did not squawk the emergency transponder code 7700, and appears to have made the diversion and return under normal operating procedures.
