HK Express has announced its exciting new direct route to Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport (FSZ) in Japan, marking the airline’s 10th destination in the country.
This latest expansion reinforces HK Express’s position as the Hong Kong airline with the most Japanese destinations. It invites travelers to “Live More” and explore Japan’s diverse landscapes.
CEO Jeanette Mao emphasized the airline’s continued commitment to affordable travel. “As Hong Kong’s only low-cost carrier, we’re dedicated to helping adventurous travelers reach their dream destinations.”
With the upcoming launch of Sendai next month, HK Express will soon operate 11 Japanese destinations, offering nearly 170 round-trip flights weekly. This extensive network allows travelers to easily explore multiple Japanese cities, embodying the “Live More” philosophy.
Coinciding with Visa Waiver Policy
The timing of this new route coincides with the central government’s recent visa waiver policy for Japanese travelers, permitting 30-day stays.
Mao anticipates this will drive increased tourism, with Japanese travelers utilizing HK Express to connect through Hong Kong and explore the Greater Bay Area and mainland China’s 20+ destinations.
Inaugural Flight
To celebrate the inaugural flight, HK Express added a playful touch by featuring Shizuoka’s beloved character, Chibi Maruko-chan. The mascot surprised passengers at Hong Kong International Airport and onboard, with the management team distributing limited-edition souvenirs.
At Mount Fuji Shizuoka Airport, Maruko’s friends Tama-chan and Hanawa-kun will participate in a welcoming ceremony hosted by the prefectural government.
Shizuoka, located in central Honshu, offers travelers a captivating blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking Mount Fuji views, explore “Chibimarukochan Land”, and immerse themselves in the region’s renowned green tea culture.
The destination boasts numerous attractions, including the Shizuoka City Museum of Art and Sunpu Castle Park. Food enthusiasts will delight in the area’s fresh seafood and vibrant street food scene.
