Hi Fly, a global specialist in wet lease and charter operations, has successfully conducted functional flight testing on its newest A330-200 widebody aircraft.
Airbus A330-200 registered 9H-MFS was taken through the paces recently. The new aircraft underwent its Functional Flight Check at Beja Airport in southern Portugal.
This check marks a crucial step before the wide-body jet can officially join the company’s growing fleet.
Functional Flight Check 9H-MFS
The Functional Check Flight, a critical procedure in aircraft preparation, took place at Beja Airport in southern Portugal.
Hi Fly’s in-house approvals allow them to perform this complex testing independently. Leading the mission was Commander Carlos Mirpuri, Vice Chairman of the Hi Fly Group. He was accompanied by a skilled team including Captains Peter Holemans and João Domingues.
They were backed up by Engineer Pedro Gomes, serving as Flight Test Engineer. The crew adhered to strict protocols, systematically working through an extensive checklist of over 50 items.
During the three-hour Maintenance Check Flight, the team pushed the A330-200 to its certification limits. They conducted thorough evaluations of various systems, including:
- Pressurization tests up to altitudes triggering passenger mask deployment
- Emergency hydraulic system checks
- Deployment and efficiency assessment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT)
Its All in the Preparation!
Commander Mirpuri emphasized the importance of thorough preparation, stating, “A meticulous flight preparation is essential for a successful test flight.”
This attention to detail was evident in the comprehensive ground checks performed prior to takeoff. This level of scrutiny ensures the crew’s confidence in the aircraft’s readiness.
Upon completing all required checks, Mirpuri expressed his satisfaction with the results. “The aircraft is in top condition and ready to join our fleet. We gave 9H-MFS a clean bill of health.”
