Swedish hybrid-electric plane manufacturer Heart Aerospace and UK regional airline Loganair have announced an exciting partnership. The two operators aim to make regional flights in the United Kingdom more environmentally friendly.
This new agreement will focus on finding ways to use hybrid-electric aircraft within Loganair’s extensive network. Loganair, based at Glasgow Airport, is the UK’s largest regional airline by passengers and fleet size. They mainly operate domestic flights within the country.
At the heart of this partnership is the ES-30, Heart Aerospace’s innovative hybrid-electric aircraft. This 30-passenger plane could significantly cut carbon emissions while keeping air travel affordable and accessible.

Partnership Initiatives
The partnership involves several key aspects. First, the two companies will explore potential uses for the ES-30 within Loganair’s network. This will help identify the most effective routes and scenarios for implementing this new technology.
Second, they will engage with Scottish and UK governments and airports to ensure a smooth integration of hybrid-electric aircraft into existing infrastructure.
Lastly, they will work together to promote the benefits of this new propulsion technology, raising awareness about its potential to revolutionize regional air travel.
Loganair will also join Heart Aerospace’s Industry Advisory Board, which includes airlines, governments, leasing companies, and airports worldwide committed to electric aviation.
This board plays a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable air travel by providing valuable insights and feedback from various stakeholders in the aviation industry.

ES-30 Capabilities
The ES-30 boasts impressive capabilities that make it well-suited for regional air travel. It has a range of 200 kilometers when operating on full electric power, producing zero emissions during these flights.
In hybrid mode, the aircraft can cover distances of up to 400 kilometers while carrying 30 passengers. For longer journeys, the ES-30 can fly up to 800 kilometers with 25 passengers on board.
These varied operating modes provide airlines with the flexibility to optimize their routes and operations while significantly reducing their carbon footprint.
Interest in Heart Aerospace Technology
Heart Aerospace’s innovative approach to aircraft design has garnered significant interest from the aviation industry. The company has secured 250 firm orders for the ES-30, demonstrating strong confidence in its technology.
Additionally, they have options and purchase rights for 120 more planes, allowing for potential expansion as demand grows. Furthermore, Heart Aerospace has received letters of intent for an additional 191 aircraft.
This substantial order book underscores the industry’s recognition of the need for more sustainable aircraft options and the potential of hybrid-electric technology to meet this demand.
