Hamad International Airport Sees Over 50 Million Passengers in 2023

With Doha tourism on the rise, Hamad International Airport saw a passenger footfall in excess of 50 million for the first time in 2023.

Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) has reached a historic peak, exceeding 50 million passengers served within a single year for the first time.

This impressive feat coincides with the airport’s 10th anniversary, underlining its remarkable growth and strategic role as a key international aviation hub.

Doha Rising as Tourist Destination

The Qatari airport boasts a robust 25% point-to-point passenger traffic, driven by Doha’s burgeoning popularity as a tourist destination.

According to Qatar Tourism’s 2023 report, international visitors to Doha surged by 58% compared to the previous year, solidifying the city’s appeal.

Hamad International Airport’s connectivity continues to flourish. The airport welcomed 3 new airline partners in 2023. Since then an additional 4 carriers have joined in the first four months of 2024.

In 2023, the airport served a staggering 255 destinations. This encompasses passenger, cargo, and chartered flights, further strengthening its network and service offerings.

Ranking in Middle East

Doha’s air connectivity ranks second-best in the Middle East. This is according to the recently published Airport Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific and Middle East Air Connectivity Ranking 2023.

Air connectivity rankings consider the number of destinations, service frequency, and connection quality.

This success is partly attributed to the airport’s exceptional facilities and services. The facilities have attracted major airlines with extensive global networks to operate from this hub.

The report highlights the Middle East’s consistent growth in air connectivity. Notably, it recommends the development of new airport infrastructure to meet future demand.

These findings resonate with Hamad International Airport’s growth trajectory and expansion plans. The airport is currently undergoing the second phase of its expansion project. This aims to further enhance passenger capacity and lifestyle offerings.

Hamad International Airport remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering exceptional services and upholding its position as a leading global aviation hub.

The airport’s continuous growth and achievements stand as a testament to its dedication to excellence and innovation within the aviation industry.
