Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has marked a key milestone with the launch of its first direct flight from Bahrain International Airport to London Gatwick Airport.
The airline hosted special celebrations at both airports to commemorate the occasion.
London Gatwick Airport effectively becomes the second London gateway for the Bahraini flag carrier. The airline has a significant connection with London Heathrow.
This new route highlights Gulf Air’s ongoing efforts to expand its international network and provide passengers with further travel options and improved connectivity.
Complementing Heathrow Service
The addition of London Gatwick as a destination complements Gulf Air’s existing service to London Heathrow, where it has operated for over 55 years since 1970.
Now, with two London gateways, Gulf Air strengthens its foothold in the United Kingdom. This move offers travellers more flexibility and access to one of the world’s busiest travel hubs.
At Bahrain International Airport, the airline kicked off the inaugural flight with a warm reception for passengers and invited guests.
The event underscored the airline’s dedication to linking Bahrain with major cities worldwide. When the flight touched down at London Gatwick, another celebration took place.
Representatives from both the airline and the airport, including Hanadi AlAali, Gulf Air’s Chief Customer Experience Officer, and Jonathan Pollard, London Gatwick’s Chief Commercial Officer, attended the ceremony.
