2025 heralds a new chapter for Edelweiss as the airline celebrates its 30th anniversary. From its modest beginnings with two McDonnel Douglas MD-83 aircraft, the company has grown to operate an impressive fleet of five Airbus A340s and 14 Airbus A320s.
This remarkable evolution reflects three decades of continuous growth and commitment to excellence in leisure travel.
To commemorate this milestone, Edelweiss will see the introduction of six new widebody Airbus A350 aircraft. It will also see the leisure carrier phase out its older workhorse, the Airbus 340, by the end of 2025.
Countdown to the A350 Maiden Flight
The anticipation builds as Edelweiss prepares for its first A350 flight to Tenerife on April 1, 2025. The introduction of this advanced aircraft marks a significant leap forward in the airline’s capabilities and passenger experience.
Initially, the aircraft will operate on short and medium-haul routes to facilitate comprehensive crew training and operational familiarity.
Following this crucial preparation period, the A350 will transition to long-haul services, with Las Vegas becoming its first intercontinental destination.
Starting July 2025, when the second A350 joins the fleet, passengers can enjoy daily flights between Zurich and Vancouver, enhancing connectivity between Switzerland and North America.

Career Opportunities Follow Fleet Expansion
The fleet expansion brings exciting employment prospects at Edelweiss, creating numerous opportunities for aviation professionals.
The airline has unveiled comprehensive training programs for 2025, offering over 300 cabin crew positions and 40 cockpit crew opportunities.
These initiatives provide qualified candidates an excellent pathway to join the growing Edelweiss team while maintaining the airline’s high standards of service and safety.
The training programs emphasize both technical expertise and the signature Edelweiss approach to customer service.

Expanding Horizons with New Routes
Edelweiss is significantly broadening its destination network in 2025, adding several exciting locations to meet growing passenger demand.
Long-haul travelers can now explore Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Seattle, expanding the airline’s North American presence.
Meanwhile, short and medium-haul passengers gain access to five diverse new destinations. These include the historic city of Bristol in England, the picturesque Calvi in Corsica, the culturally rich Tbilisi in Georgia, the stunning Terceira in the Azores, and the coastal gem of Zadar in Croatia.
This strategic expansion not only provides travelers with more choices but also reinforces Edelweiss’s position as Switzerland’s premier leisure airline.
