Glasgow Airport is set to see major upgrades to its terminal facilities under a recently unveiled £350 million investment plan.
AviAlliance, a global leader in private airport management to boost growth and sustainability at AGS Airports. This group includes Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton airports.
The announcement follows AviAlliance’s £1.53 billion acquisition of AGS in January 2025. This five-year investment marks the largest capital program in AGS’s history since its formation in 2014.
The funding will drive passenger growth, create jobs, and support the UK economy. AGS airports sustain over 30,000 jobs and contribute more than £2 billion annually to the economy.

Glasgow Airport Set for Major Upgrades
A significant portion of the £350 million will transform Glasgow Airport’s main terminal. The project includes modernizing operational and retail spaces to deliver top-tier facilities.
Additionally, the investment will improve airfield infrastructure and energy-efficient systems. These upgrades will elevate the passenger experience while preparing the airport for future growth.
The enhancements align with Glasgow’s role as a key economic hub. By improving infrastructure, the airport will better serve airlines and customers, fostering trade and tourism across Scotland.

Southampton and Aberdeen to Benefit
Southampton Airport, fresh off its 2023 runway extension, will see terminal redevelopment. Meanwhile, Aberdeen Airport, Europe’s largest heliport, will receive upgrades to its airfield infrastructure. These improvements will strengthen both airports’ operations and passenger services.
Sustainability is a core focus of the investment. AGS aims to achieve net-zero direct emissions by the mid-2030s. The funding will accelerate eco-friendly initiatives, ensuring the airports align with global environmental goals.
Supporting UK and Scottish Goals
This investment supports the UK Government’s industrial strategy to unlock regional potential through private investment.
It also aligns with Scotland’s international strategy, which emphasizes connectivity and global competitiveness. By enhancing airport infrastructure, AGS will boost trade, tourism, and employment across the UK.
Deputy First Minister of Scotland, Kate Forbes, praised the plan. “This investment will improve infrastructure at Glasgow and Aberdeen airports, benefiting our economy,” she said.
“Strong connectivity drives trade, investment, and tourism, supporting Scotland’s prosperity. The focus on sustainability is also a welcome step toward net zero.”

A Vision for Long-Term Growth
Kam Jandu, AGS Airports’ Chief Executive, emphasized the airports’ role in economic prosperity. “Our airports fuel growth across Scotland and the UK,” he said.
“This investment will strengthen connectivity, enhance facilities, and create jobs. It’s a bold step toward sustainable, long-term success.”
Gerhard Schroeder, Managing Director of AviAlliance, added further support for the initiative. “We take a long-term approach to our airports,” he said.
“This funding will help AGS deliver exceptional passenger experiences and expand connectivity. We’re excited to partner with regional and national stakeholders to unlock the potential of Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Southampton.”
