This exciting route offers travelers seamless access to one of Australia’s most vibrant cities. Delta will complement its new route with its renowned service and operate the widebody Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, gave comment for the airline on the new route. “Our Melbourne service underscores Delta’s commitment to connecting customers with extraordinary destinations.”

“As LAX’s leading carrier, we’re dedicated to providing a premium travel experience for those exploring Melbourne or connecting to global destinations.”

Exploring Melbourne: Australia’s Cultural Capital

Melbourne is something more that the typical destination—it’s a multifaceted experience brimming with creativity and adventure. Recognized as Australia’s cultural capital, the city offers an unparalleled blend of artistic, culinary, and sporting experiences.

Visitors can immerse themselves in world-class galleries, discover vibrant street art, indulge in award-winning restaurants, and explore hidden laneway cafes.

For nature enthusiasts, Melbourne serves as an ideal gateway to some of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes.

From the dramatic Great Ocean Road and its stunning coastal views to the lush Yarra Valley vineyards and the charming penguin colonies of Phillip Island, the region promises diverse experiences for every traveler.

This new route represents Delta’s third nonstop Australian destination, joining Sydney and Brisbane. It expands the airline’s South Pacific presence to five cities, including Auckland and Papeete.

Elevating Long-Haul Travel Experience

The Los Angeles to Melbourne route will feature the Airbus A350-900. The aircraft offers four distinct travel experiences: Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin.

Delta One passengers will enjoy enhanced privacy with fully reclining seats, and luxurious bedding made from recycled materials. This is augmented by artisan-crafted amenity kits, and chef-prepared meals. Delta Premium Select offers wider seats with deeper reclines, adjustable footrests, and an elevated dining experience.

All passengers can look forward to a recently refreshed food and beverage program. It features carefully curated menu selections, specialty snacks, and a premium selection of beverages. Additionally, travelers can enjoy complimentary access to over 1,000 hours of in-flight entertainment through Delta Studio.

Delta continues to set industry standards for reliability and service. The Wall Street Journal named Delta ‘Top U.S. Airline’ for the fourth consecutive year. It also received Cirium’s Platinum Award for operational excellence, maintaining its position as North America’s most punctual airline in 2024.

With this new route, Delta not only connects travelers to Melbourne but also promises an exceptional journey that begins the moment passengers step onboard.
