A Fuji Dream Airlines Embraer ERJ-170 operating a scheduled service from Kochi Airport to Chubu Airport became disabled on landing due to a technical issue on 22 August 2024.
Fuji Dream Airlines flight JH944, an Embraer ERJ-170 inbound from Kochi Ryoma Airport (KCZ), suffered a loss of nosewheel steering during the landing phase.

The flight had performed a normal approach to Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO) and landed on RWY18. During the landing role, the nosegear steering failed causing the aircraft to become disabled on the runway.
As a result, the aircraft needed to be towed from the active runway by a ground support vehicle. traffic at Chubu was delayed for approximately 30 minutes. The aircraft was subsequently returned to service after a period of approximately five hours on the ground.

Flight data shows that flight JH944 had departed Kochi Ryoma at 1140 local time on 22 August. The flight and then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL230 (23,000 feet) for the north-westerly route to Nagoya, Chubu (NGO).
Descent and approach procedures were similarly conducted normally, and the aircraft was disabled during the subsequent landing roll.
The aircraft conducting the JH944 service from Kochi was an Embraer ERJ-170, registered JA02FJ. This is a 15.3 year old regional aircraft belonging to the carrier Fuji Dream Airlines.
It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in June 2009.
