BOC Aviation Limited has announced new agreements with Frontier Airlines, Inc. The lessor has signed purchase-and-leaseback agreements with existing customer Frontier for 15 new Airbus A320neo aircraft. The aircraft are now scheduled to be delivered in 2025 and 2026.

This deal marks a continuation of their long-standing partnership and promises to boost Frontier’s fleet expansion plans.

New Purchase-and-Leaseback Agreements

BOC Aviation and Frontier Airlines have signed purchase-and-leaseback agreements for 15 new Airbus A320neo aircraft. Frontier’s fleet will welcome these state-of-the-art narrowbody planes in 2025 and 2026, further boosting the airline’s capacity and efficiency.

Robert Fanning, Vice President of Fleet for Frontier Airlines, gave comment about the latest deal. “BOC Aviation has been a highly valued business partner of Frontier Airlines for the past two decades. We are thrilled to continue that partnership with these latest agreements.”

Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, highlighted the significance of this transaction. “We are excited to be working again with long-time customer Frontier. The airline is the largest A320neo operator in the United States.”

Frontier Airlines: US Leader in A320neo Operations

Frontier Airlines has established itself as a major player in the U.S. aviation market, particularly with its A320neo fleet.

As the largest operator of this aircraft model in the country, Frontier continues to prioritize fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility in its operations.

Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the Company operates 148 A320 family aircraft. It operates the largest A320neo family fleet in the U.S.

The use of these aircraft, along with Frontier’s high-density seating configuration and weight-saving initiatives, have contributed to Frontier’s continued ability to be the most fuel-efficient of all major U.S. carriers when measured by ASMs per fuel gallon consumed.

The addition of 15 new A320neos will further solidify Frontier’s position as a forward-thinking airline committed to modernizing its fleet and improving passenger experience.

Strategic Benefits for Both Parties

For BOC Aviation, this deal represents a strategic use of its strong liquidity position. The transaction builds on the company’s existing pipeline of aircraft scheduled for delivery beyond 2024. This effectively expands both its revenue base and its fleet of latest-generation aircraft.

Frontier Airlines, on the other hand, gains access to modern, fuel-efficient aircraft without the immediate capital outlay of purchasing them outright. This arrangement allows the airline to continue its growth trajectory while maintaining financial flexibility.
