On 15 April, Frontier Airlines flight F93506, an Airbus A321-200N, made headlines after a hard landing at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. local time, damaged the aircraft’s landing gear and left passengers shaken.
The flight was a scheduled service, carrying 228 passengers from Orlando, Florida. The incident has sparked an investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
Frontier Airlines F93506 Landing Incident

Following the flight’s arrival initial from Orlando International Airport (ORD), a landing attempt was made on runway 10. The aircraft then made a hard landing.
The impact caused one of the two nose gear wheels to shear off. Flight crew then initiated a go-around, and circled the airport. During the subsequent climb, impact debris was ingested by the left-hand engine, which was seen to be emitting a continuous streak of flame as a result.
To assess the damage, flight crew performed a low pass over the runway, allowing air traffic control to inspect the undercarriage. The aircraft was then placed in a holding pattern to permit flight crew to run troubleshooting checklists.
No injuries were reported as a result of the hard landing. However, the incident temporarily closed the airport, forcing other flights to divert.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, sustained significant nose landing gear damage. Impact damage to the main landing gear and fuselage will be assessed.
The aircraft conducting the F93506 service to San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) was an Airbus A321neo, registered N607FR. This is a 2.3 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Frontier Airlines.
It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in December 2022. The aircraft bears the airline name ‘Chopper the Great White Shark’.
Frontier Airlines responded by offering passengers $500 vouchers and full refunds as compensation. The FAA and NTSB are now investigating the cause of the hard landing.
