Four Croatian football supporters have been arrested and charged over an incident which resulted in a departure delay for a Ryanair flight at Dublin Airport.
The four men made an appearance to face charges of offensive behaviour at the Dublin District Court on Wednesday, 22 January 2025.
Ryanair Flight Disruption in Dublin
The group was arrested at Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 facility after they were removed from the flight. Police charged the men under the Air Navigation and Transport Act with offensive behaviour on the aircraft. The incident resulted in a flight delay for the departing Ryanair flight.
They had planned to take the flight to London that morning, in order to attend the Dinamo Zagreb v Arsenal FC Champions League match later that evening.
Instead, police detained them and referred them to court. The court then released them later that afternoon, pending a hearing on 5 February
The men were released on bail under condition of remaining sober in public places, including transit through Dublin Airport. The group still intended to travel to London to attend the match on Wednesday evening.

Zero Tolerance Policy
Ryanair has a strict zero-tolerance policy for unruly passenger behaviour. This means that any passenger who is deemed to be a danger or a nuisance to other passengers or crew members will be removed from the flight.
Ryanair has been criticized for its strict enforcement of this policy, but the airline maintains that it is necessary to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
Some of the behaviours that can lead to removal from a Ryanair flight include:
- Being drunk or disorderly
- Refusing to follow crew instructions
- Being abusive or aggressive towards other passengers or crew members
- Smoking on board the aircraft
If a passenger is removed from a Ryanair flight, they may be liable for the costs of the diversion and any other expenses incurred by the airline. Ryanair has also been known to ban passengers from future flights for unruly behaviour.
Many other airlines have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards unruly passenger behaviour. This trend reflects a growing industry-wide commitment to what has become an increasing problem. The safety and protection of all passengers and crew members remains the overriding priority.
