A flynas Airbus A320 operating from Doha, Qatar to Riyadh experienced a runway excursion on landing at Riyadh on 28 April 2024.
flynas flight XY224, an Airbus A320-200 inbound from Doha, made its approach and landing to King Khalid International Airport RWY15L.

During the landing roll, the aircraft veered to the right and left the runway. The aircraft then came to a stop on a taxiway, having run over soft ground during the excursion.
Minor damage to the aircraft was reported, and all occupants of the flight were disembarked safely without further incident.
An airport statement confirmed the safety of the passengers following the incident.
“The management of King Khalid International Airport clarifies that, praise be to God, there are no injuries among passengers, and the necessary regulatory procedures are being completed.”
A weather report at the time of the landing incident shows invisibility down to 3000 m with thunderstorms and rain in the vicinity of the airport.
Airbus A320-200 HZ-NS45
The aircraft conducting the XY224 service from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) was an Airbus A320-200, registered HZ-NS45. This is a two-year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier flynas.
The aircraft has been in service with the airline since its initial delivery in July 2021.
flynas (formerly Nas Air) is a Saudi Arabian low-cost airline headquartered in Riyadh. It is the first low-cost carrier in the country and operates over 1,500 flights per week.
The airline’s network covers more than 70 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
The airline uses four major airports in Saudi Arabia as its hubs. These are King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah.
The airline has won a number of awards for its service, including being named the “Low Cost Airline of the Year” at the Aviation Business Awards in 2017.
