At the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), flydubai, a Dubai-based airline, partnered with Boeing to upgrade 21 of its 737 MAX aircraft with larger Boeing Space Bins.
This cabin enhancement aims to improve passenger comfort by offering more storage space for carry-on luggage.
Each new Space Bin can hold up to six standard sized bags, compared to only four in standard bins.
By rotating bags on their edge, these bins maximize space, rivaling the storage capacity of wide body aircraft. This upgrade ensures travelers have room for their belongings, making boarding smoother and more convenient.
Senior Leadership Comments
Daniel Kerrison, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations, spoke about the airline’s commitment to innovation.
“Since starting in 2009, we’ve focused on enhancing the passenger experience. These larger bins provide added convenience and align with our goal of delivering a superior inflight experience,” he said.
Boeing’s Doug Backhus, Vice President of Cabin, Modifications and Maintenance, noted the growing demand for better storage. “Passengers value extra bin space for their carry ons. We’re thrilled to work with flydubai to bring this upgrade to their 737 MAX fleet,” he noted.
