flydubai has become the first UAE carrier to connect EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg with Dubai, launching direct flights to Basel.

flydubai has marked a further milestone in its European expansion with the launch of direct flights to Basel, Switzerland.

The Dubai-based carrier now becomes the first UAE carrier to connect EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. It will now offer a four-times weekly service from Dubai

A First For the UAE


The inaugural flight touched down at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg on 7 August 2024. This marked the commencement of a four-times weekly service between Dubai International and the tri-national airport.

This development positions flydubai as the first national UAE carrier to offer direct connectivity to this vibrant region.  

Basel is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and architectural marvels. This and its proximity to the stunning Swiss countryside, has made it a coveted destination for travelers.

By establishing a direct link, flydubai will cater to the growing demand for travel between the UAE and Switzerland. The new European route also opens up new opportunities for tourism, business, and trade.

Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, spoke about the new route. He emphasized its strategic importance in expanding the airline’s European network.

“Basel is a significant hub for the tri-border region. We are delighted to offer our passengers convenient access to this vibrant city,” he said.

“This new service reinforces our commitment to connecting underserved markets and facilitating seamless travel experiences.”

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, strategically located at the crossroads of Switzerland, France, and Germany, welcomes flydubai’s arrival as a major boost to its connectivity.

Matthias Suhr, Managing Director of the airport, expressed his delight at the new service, stating, “We are proud to welcome flydubai to our airport and offer our passengers direct flights to Dubai.
