Argentina’s leading private airline, Flybondi, will bolster its operations with the addition of four new aircraft to its fleet. The carrier will add four wet leased Airbus A320 aircraft to its Boeing fleet; operating the Airbus of the first time.

This strategic expansion will significantly boost the carrier’s capacity during the upcoming summer season, marking a new stage in the airline’s growth story.

Fleet Expansion Details

In recent developments, Flybondi has already welcomed two new aircraft, with two more scheduled to arrive in the coming days.

This expansion will bring the total fleet size to an impressive 19 aircraft. Notably, the new additions represent a departure from Flybondi’s existing Boeing 737-800 NG fleet, as these aircraft are Airbus A320s configured with 180 seats each.

The Lithuania-registered aircraft will be operational from November 2024 through March 2025, perfectly timed to meet increased demand during the peak summer travel season.

This additional capacity will enable the low-cost carrier to strengthen its route network by adding new frequencies and exploring potential new destinations.

Pioneering ACMI Implementation

Furthermore, Flybondi has achieved a significant milestone by becoming Argentina’s first airline to implement Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) agreements.

This achievement was made possible through recent reforms to the country’s Aeronautical Code. This now permits both foreign personnel to operate commercial air services and the use of foreign-registered aircraft.

Leadership Perspective

Mauricio Sana, CEO of Flybondi, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion. “This growth in our fleet enables us to present an excellent proposal for the summer season. We will increase domestic flights and frequencies on our Brazilian routes while exploring new destinations in the short and medium term.”

He further emphasized, “Flybondi’s commitment to Argentina remains solid and sustainable. As the country’s largest private airline, we are dedicated to promoting productive development, creating jobs, and boosting tourism.”

Impressive Track Record

Since beginning operations in 2018, Flybondi has demonstrated remarkable success in democratizing air travel in Argentina.

The airline has transported more than 13 million passengers, with a particularly noteworthy achievement. 20% of its customers have been first-time flyers, highlighting the airline’s role in making air travel more accessible to the general public.

Flybondi Current Operations

The airline currently maintains an extensive network spanning across Argentina and beyond. Flybondi serves 19 national destinations and has expanded to include three international destinations.

Its comprehensive route network encompasses 26 total routes, with 18 domestic connections linking various cities to Buenos Aires. Additionally, they operate five interprovincial routes within Argentina and three international routes, demonstrating their commitment to comprehensive regional connectivity.

This latest fleet expansion represents a significant step forward in Flybondi’s mission to provide affordable air travel options while contributing to Argentina’s economic development and tourism sector.

For passengers planning their summer travel, this expansion promises increased flight options and potentially new destinations.
