Flair Airlines is set to significantly enhance air travel connectivity between Alberta and British Columbia. The carrier will implement substantial frequency increases across key routes starting in April 2025.

The expansion promises more convenient and affordable travel options for passengers traveling between Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and Abbotsford.

Enhanced Route Frequencies

The airline will introduce up to five daily flights between Vancouver (YVR) and Calgary (YYC). This represents a dramatic improvement in inter-provincial transportation. This strategic expansion reflects the growing economic and social ties between Alberta and British Columbia.

Eric Tanner, VP of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Flair Airlines, emphasized the importance of these new routes.

“The interconnectivity between Alberta and British Columbia is becoming increasingly vital. We’re empowering passengers to easily conduct day trips between provinces with affordable and convenient morning and evening flight options.”

Significant Growth in Flight Offerings

Summer 2025 will showcase a remarkable 50% year-over-year increase in flight frequencies. It will see approximately 340 additional monthly flights across these routes.

This expansion is made possible through collaborative efforts between Flair Airlines and key airports. Those involved are Edmonton (YEG), Calgary (YYC), Vancouver (YVR), and Abbotsford (YXX).

Airport Leadership Perspectives

Airport and regional leaders have enthusiastically welcomed the expanded services. Adrian Warchola from Edmonton International Airport noted that the expansion demonstrates “the growing demand for travel options in our region”. He observed that they will help “strengthen community connections and drive economic prosperity.”

Ross Siemens, Mayor of Abbotsford, highlighted Flair’s commitment to “making air travel more affordable and accessible for all Canadians”. He praised the increased capacity supporting the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver regions.

The increased flight frequencies offer multiple advantages for travelers. Passengers can now enjoy more flexible travel scheduling, with enhanced inter-provincial connectivity. This provides improved options for both business and leisure travel.

The expanded routes potentially reduce travel costs and provide more convenient travel windows throughout the day.
