Finnair, Finland’s national carrier and a proud member of the oneworld alliance, is celebrating a significant milestone.

This summer, Finnair reclaimed its position as the leading European airline connecting Europe to Japan. The latest recognition reaffirms the carrier’s strong commitment to the Asian market.

Known for its strategic positioning as a bridge between Europe and the Far East, Finnair has launched its new summer schedule, offering an impressive 25 weekly flights from its hub in Helsinki to Japan.

This surpasses any other European airline, marking a triumphant return to pre-pandemic levels. It further highlights Finnair’s sustained growth in the region.

This achievement underscores Finnair’s deep-rooted 40-year legacy in the Japanese market. The airline will serve four key Japanese destinations this summer: Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka, and Nagoya.

Increased Connectivity to Key Cities

Passengers can now enjoy daily flights to both Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita. Furthermore, Finnair has significantly increased its service to Osaka.

It now offers daily flights, up from five weekly flights last summer. This enhanced connectivity is perfectly timed to support Osaka’s growing global profile as it prepares to host the World Expo 2025.

The airline’s newest long-haul route to Nagoya, the only direct European connection to the city, has also seen a doubling of services. Flights have increased from twice weekly last summer to four times weekly, catering to the rising demand for travel to this vibrant city.

Celebrating Sakura Season with Style

Adding a touch of cultural flair, Finnair is celebrating Japan’s iconic Sakura, or cherry blossom, season. This beautiful natural phenomenon attracts travelers from around the globe.

Until April 13th, Finnair’s cabin crew on flights to Tokyo will be wearing traditional yukatas designed by the renowned Finnish design house, Marimekko. They bring a vibrant splash of color to the skies.

A Long-Standing Dedication

Anssi Partanen, Finnair’s Market Director Europe, was pleased with the recent recognition. “As the seasons change, we have a spring in our step here at Finnair. We once again take home the title of largest European airline to Japan.”

He emphasized the airline’s 40-year commitment to connecting Europe and Japan, highlighting the pride in offering 25 weekly flights to Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya.

“From connecting families and friends and driving tourism, to deepening business ties, our routes to Japan have always been extremely popular, and they remain a key part of Finnair’s DNA,” Partanen added.

Expanding Asian Connections

In addition to its robust Japanese network, Finnair also offers convenient connections from the UK and Ireland to other major Asian destinations. These include Bangkok, Delhi, Doha, Hong Kong, Phuket, Seoul, Shanghai, and Singapore.

Travelers departing from key UK airports like London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin can enjoy seamless transfers through Finnair’s Helsinki hub.

The airline offers smooth and efficient connections, with transfer times as short as 40 minutes. This is possible with all flights operating from the same terminal.

Finnair’s dedication to providing efficient and culturally rich travel experiences solidifies its position as a leading airline connecting Europe to Asia.

This summer’s enhanced schedule reflects their ongoing commitment to meeting the growing demand for travel. It continues to foster stronger ties between these two continents.
