Finnair Completes €200 Million Long-Haul Cabin Upgrade

Finnair has completed a €200 million long-haul cabin renewal program to its A350 and A330 widebody fleet. The upgrade introduces a new Premium Economy class.

Finnair celebrates the successful completion of its €200 million long-haul cabin renewal program to Economy and Business class. It sees the introduction of a new Premium Economy class on long-haul Finnair flights.

This upgrade project brings a completely transformed travel experience to all passengers on Finnair flights involving long-haul routes.

Launched in 2022, the state-of-the-art cabins have now been installed across the entire fleet of A350 and A330 aircraft.

This means passengers flying between Helsinki, the airline’s hub, and destinations in the US, Middle East, and Asia can now enjoy a consistent and exceptional Finnair experience.

Introducing Premium Economy Class

A key highlight of the cabin refresh is the introduction of a brand-new Premium Economy class.

This provides passengers with increased choice and flexibility when selecting their travel experience. Finnair is now the first to offer Premium Economy on most long-haul routes.

“We’re thrilled to have completed the rollout of our award-winning long-haul cabins in just two years,” says Ole Orvér, Finnair’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“Customer feedback on the revolutionary Business Class seats and the all-new Premium Economy cabin has been outstanding. We’re proud to bring this renewed cabin experience to all our long-haul destinations.”

Award-Winning Design and Enhanced Comfort

Finnair’s new long-haul cabins have garnered recognition from prestigious industry awards. This includes “Cabin Concept of the Year” by Onboard Hospitality and “Best Cabin Innovation” by APEX.

The innovative Business Class seats, developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace, are a first for the industry.

The unique fixed-shell lounge seats in Finnair Business Class offer exceptional space. They transform into a variety of comfortable sitting and sleeping positions for a truly personalized long-haul experience.

The cabin design draws inspiration from the airline’s signature Nordic aesthetic, featuring warm, dark tones that create a calming and inviting atmosphere.

This design philosophy aligns with the airline’s non-Schengen lounges unveiled at Helsinki Airport before the pandemic.

Continued Investment in Passenger Experience

Finnair’s commitment to passenger comfort extends beyond long-haul travel. The airline has announced upcoming cabin renewals for their E190 regional jets, serving popular Nordic destinations.

These short-haul aircraft will receive a brand-new cabin inspired by the award-winning design elements seen across Finnair’s long-haul fleet.

Furthermore, Finnair flights will enjoy a new, larger lounge in the Schengen area of Helsinki Airport for Business Class passengers and Finnair Plus tier members.

This lounge access can also be purchased as a travel extra for all Finnair customers.

By consistently investing in its fleet and passenger experience, Finnair continues to solidify its position as a leader in comfortable and stylish air travel.

Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, boasts a rich history dating back to 1923. As Finland’s largest airline, Finnair dominates both domestic and international air travel in the country.

With its hub conveniently located at Helsinki Airport, Finnair offers a smooth travel experience to destinations throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East.

The carrier is a member of the Oneworld alliance, which means passengers can seamlessly connect to a wider network of destinations around the globe.
