Finnair and American Airlines have announced a new codeshare agreement. The new agreement will open up streamlined travel to 12 popular Mexican destinations for Finnair customers.

This collaboration will significantly enhance travel options for passengers flying from Finland and other parts of Northern Europe. This will be of particular benefit during the winter months when Mexico is a highly sought-after destination.

12 Mexico Destinations from Dallas

Starting 23 January 2025, Finnair will offer codeshare flights on American Airlines’ routes from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to 12 Mexican destinations.

These are Guanajuato, Monterrey, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Cancún, Cozumel, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Mérida, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Querétaro, and San José del Cabo.

Tickets for these flights will be available for purchase from 13 January 2025. This expansion builds upon the existing strong partnership between Finnair and American Airlines within the Atlantic Joint Business framework.

By incorporating these new codeshare destinations, Finnair aims to provide its customers with even greater flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys to Mexico and beyond.

“This cooperation opens up a comprehensive choice of destinations for our customers to Mexico, a popular travel destination from Finland and elsewhere in Northern Europe,” says Fredrik Wildtgrube, Finnair’s SVP Alliances and Airline Partnerships.

“Besides Mexico, American Airlines offers our customers excellent connections via Dallas also to elsewhere in the United States and America.”

A Deeper Dive into the Partnership

Strategic Hub: Dallas-Fort Worth serves as a crucial hub for American Airlines. This also makes it a vital connection point for Finnair’s passengers.

Finnair currently operates up to daily flights to DFW during the winter season. The airline has plans to further increase capacity to 11 weekly flights during the summer of 2025.

Benefits for Finnair Customers: Codeshare flights will be operated by American Airlines and its subsidiary Envoy Air. These flights will be marketed under Finnair’s flight numbers.

This seamless integration ensures that passengers can book their entire journey with a single Finnair flight number. Passengers can also conveniently earn Avios on the entire trip.

Enhanced Connectivity: This collaboration provides the Finnish carriers customers with smoother access to popular Mexican destinations, offering more convenient connections from Mexico to Finland and onward to other destinations within its global network.
