Fiji Airways has expanded its global reach by inaugurating its longest international route, connecting Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, with Nadi, Fiji.

The longhaul service will now operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The service utilizesthe airline’s advanced Airbus A350 widebody aircraft.

Dallas Fort Worth: A Strategic Destination


Fiji Airways has taken a significant leap in its international expansion by inaugurating its longest direct route. It now connects Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, with the tropical paradise of Nadi, Fiji.

This service represents a major milestone for the national carrier of Fiji. The route inauguration showcases its commitment to global connectivity and strategic growth.

The flight leverages Dallas Fort Worth International Airport’s status as the second most connected airport globally. It provides Fiji Airways passengers with unprecedented access to international destinations.

A Rich History of Island Aviation

Founded in 1951 as Fiji’s national airline, Fiji Airways has a storied history of connecting the South Pacific with the world.

Originally known as Fiji Airlines and later as Air Pacific, the carrier rebranded to Fiji Airways in 2013. It recommitted to its national identity and mission of “We Fly for Fiji.” The airline has consistently been a critical lifeline for the island nation, supporting tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

CEO Andre Viljoen highlighted the route’s significance, stating, “This service dramatically enhances our connectivity across North America. It makes Fiji more accessible than ever for U.S. travelers. We’re not just launching a flight; we’re opening a gateway to cultural and economic opportunities.”

The Airbus A350-900 XWB


The inaugural flight touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport on December 10th, 2024, welcomed by a traditional water cannon salute.

The aircraft, an Airbus A350-900 XWB, represents the pinnacle of modern aviation technology. It offers premium accommodations for 334 passengers, including 33 lie-flat business class seats with direct aisle access, ensuring maximum comfort for long-haul travelers.

This service becomes Fiji Airways’ fifth direct route to North America, joining existing connections from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver. It’s part of an ambitious strategy to expand the airline’s global footprint and strengthen Fiji’s international connections.

Strategic Expansion and Partnerships


The route launch is embedded in Fiji Airways’ broader strategic vision, which includes several transformative initiatives:

  • Full membership in the oneworld® alliance starting March 31st, 2025
  • Integration of American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program
  • Introduction of a direct service to Cairns, Australia, on April 10th, 2025

DFW’s CEO Sean Donohue expressed enthusiasm about adding Fiji to the airport’s international destination portfolio. He emphasized the route’s potential to connect North Texas with a tropical destination and leverage DFW’s extensive network of over 250 destinations.

Economic and Tourism Impact


The new service is expected to bring approximately 1,000 passengers to Fiji weekly, providing a significant boost to the nation’s tourism industry. This aligns with Fiji Airways’ mission to support national economic development and create international business opportunities.

To celebrate the inaugural route, Fiji Airways is offering return flights from Nadi to Dallas Fort Worth starting at $1,999 per person, available until December 17th, 2024. This attractive pricing aims to encourage travel and showcase the accessibility of this new route.
