During the Farnborough Air Show 2024, AviationSource got the opportunity to take a look inside the Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330neo.
This was during the point where airline CEO Shai Weiss announced an additional order for more units of the aircraft type.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
The Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330neo At The Farnborough Air Show 2024…
The Airbus A330neo of Virgin Atlantic was on show via the organised tours managed by the European planemaker at the Farnborough Air Show 2024.
This aircraft, G-VSRB, was only delivered to the UK carrier around five weeks ago.
Furthermore, the particular aircraft type typically operates flights to New York, Boston & Tampa.
Seating configuration for the aircraft is as follows:
- 32 seats in Upper Class with two retreat suites and a 1-2-1 configuration.
- 46 premium economy seats in a 2-3-2 configuration.
- 184 economy seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.
Below are some pictures onboard the aircraft:
The seven Airbus A330neos ordered by Virgin Atlantic at the Farnborough Air Show 2024 this week also include purchase rights for nine more aircraft.
CEO Shai Weiss said in a media briefing onboard the aircraft that the purchase rights will likely be exercised.
Furthermore, deliveries on this new order batch will begin in 2027, with the final one being delivered in Q1 2028.
By Q1 2028, Virgin Atlantic will have a fleet of 19 Airbus A330neos, 12 Airbus A350-1000s and 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, as confirmed by Weiss at the Farnborough Air Show 2024.
Weiss did also say that this order represents both growth and also for replacement of the older A330 aircraft they have in their fleet.
Overall Thoughts…
Overall, it is clear why Virgin Atlantic is so popular, with the product onboard the Airbus A330neo seen at the Farnborough Air Show 2024 being a great example of that.
Looking ahead, it remains clear that they will stick to their strategy they have in terms of this.
Passenger experience has been at the forefront of the carrier with these new aircraft.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on where the airline is at by Q1 2028 in terms of such development.
