EVA Air, Taiwan’s premier international carrier, has joined the DJSI Emerging Markets Indices for the first time. It earned the highest ESG score among airlines worldwide in the 2024 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.
Founded in 1989 as part of the Evergreen Group, EVA Air has grown into one of Asia’s most respected airlines, known for its exceptional service quality and safety standards.
The carrier operates a modern fleet of over 80 aircraft, serving more than 60 destinations across four continents. EVA Air is a member of the prestigious Star Alliance network.
Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
The prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indices evaluate companies’ environmental, social, and governance performance, serving as key benchmarks for sustainable investment.
This year’s assessment included more than 13,000 companies across 62 industries, with EVA Air emerging as the leader among 61 airlines thanks to its robust ESG strategies.
EVA Air President Clay Sun commented on the achievement. “Our top ranking in the global airline industry and first-time inclusion in the DJSI Emerging Markets Index reflect the success of our ESG programs and our team’s dedication.”

Performance Across Multiple Areas
The airline’s outstanding performance extended across multiple areas, securing top positions in environmental and social categories.
EVA Air ranked first in several crucial areas, including Transparency, Risk Management, Supply Chain Operations, Environmental Policy, Energy Usage, Climate Strategy, and Customer Relations.
This success builds upon the airline’s longstanding commitment to operational excellence, which has earned it numerous accolades, including Skytrax’s prestigious 5-star rating for seven consecutive years.
Pioneering SAF Operations
Demonstrating its environmental commitment, EVA Air has pioneered the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Notable flights include an August 2023 journey from Tokyo Haneda to Taipei Songshan using 40% SAF blend.
A further flight in December 2024 flight from Incheon to Taoyuan International Airport with 30% SAF blend. This cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 14,000 kilograms.
The airline has also implemented comprehensive recycling programs and invested in fuel-efficient aircraft, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner series.
Innovative Service Offerings
Beyond environmental initiatives, EVA Air has distinguished itself through innovative service offerings.
The carrier’s Royal Laurel Class business cabin is renowned for its comfort and amenities, while its Hello Kitty-themed aircraft have become global attractions, showcasing the airline’s creative approach to passenger experience.
The airline’s excellence in sustainability has garnered multiple accolades in 2024. At the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards, EVA Air secured the Top 10 Sustainability Exemplary Companies Award.
It achieved this along with the Platinum Award for Transportation Industry Sustainability Reporting and four performance awards. The airline also received Bronze Class recognition at the 7th Global Corporate Sustainability Awards.
