A Eurowings Airbus A319-100 operating service from Düsseldorf, Germany to Kraków, Poland returned to Düsseldorf after losing cabin pressure on 11 October 2024.
Eurowings flight EW9732, operated by an Airbus A319-100 was on climb en route to John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice (KRK).

During the climb, the aircraft sustained a loss of cabin pressure,. This resulted in the flight crew performing an emergency descent to 10,000 feet.
Flight crew then made the decision to return the aircraft to Düsseldorf. The flight subsequently landed without further incident on runway 23L Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS). The return landing took place just under an hour after the flight’s initial departure.
According to the online source Aviation Herald, a passenger reported that the emergency descent and precautionary return was prompted by the failure of the aircraft’s PACK 1 pressurisation system.

Flight data shows that flight EW9732 and made an on-time departure out of Düsseldorf at 1230 local time on 11 October.
The flight had then set course normally for Kraków. It was on climb through flight level FL300 (30,000 feet) when the emergency descent procedure was initiated. The aircraft then returned to the origin airport at the reduced altitude of 10,000 feet.
The aircraft conducting the EW9732 service from Düsseldorf was an Airbus A319-100, registered D-ABGQ. This is a 16 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Eurowings.
It has been an operational service with the airline since February 2017.
The PACK 1 system is the Primary Air Conditioning Pack on a commercial jet aircraft. It is one of the essential systems responsible for providing conditioned air. This is supplied to the cabin, cockpit, and other critical areas of the aircraft.

- Pressurization: Maintaining the cabin pressure at a comfortable level for passengers and crew, even at high altitudes.
