Etihad Airways marked a milestone with the inaugural flight of its Chennai Super Kings (CSK) themed Airbus A320neo. Its arrival in India created a spectacular moment in aviation and sports marketing.
The aircraft landed in Chennai at 2:55 pm local time on 10 December 2024. The maiden flight was greeted by a water cannon salute that symbolized the excitement of this unique partnership.
The flight was a carefully planned celebration of the collaboration between Etihad Airways and one of India’s most beloved cricket teams.
Chennai Super Kings Welcome Arrival
Three prominent CSK players – Gurjapneet Singh, Rahul Tripathi, and Vijay Shankar – were on hand to welcome the aircraft, adding a personal touch to the event.
Passengers onboard were treated to special CSK-themed sweet treats. This helped transform an ordinary flight into an memorable experience. The additional touches captured the spirit of both the airline and the cricket team.

The CSK-branded aircraft will play a crucial role in Etihad’s Indian network strategy. The airline currently operates an impressive 181 weekly flights to 11 Indian cities, providing extensive connectivity across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America.
The 2024 expansion has been particularly notable, with new routes added to Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Jaipur, and increased frequencies to key markets like Mumbai and Delhi.
Travelers can enhance their journey through Etihad’s attractive stopover promotion, which offers complimentary hotel stays of one or two nights when booking directly through Etihad.com and transiting through Zayed International Airport.
