This week, Emirates unveiled the signing of a brand new interlining agreement with Mexican carrier Viva Aerobus.
The UAE-based carrier continues to sign such deals with airlines around the world to boost connectivity.

The Deal Between Emirates & Viva Aerobus…
The thrust of the deal between Emirates & Viva Aerobus focuses on the operations out of Mexico City.
From MEX, customers on EK can travel onwards to 21 new domestic points, as well as a further seven routes to the U.S.
Some of the destinations in the interlining are as follows:
- Acapulco
- Cancun
- Guadalajara
- Monterrey
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Houston
- Los Angeles
- Orlando
- Miami
- Las Vegas
- New York JFK
- San Antonio
Viva Aerobus joins Emirates’ extensive list of 161 commercial agreements signed over the years.
Both Sides Show Excitement Over The Deal…
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President, and Chief Commercial Officer expressed excitement over the deal:
“We are pleased to activate an interline partnership with Viva Aerobus to deepen our reach into Mexico, beyond Mexico City.”
“This new partnership provides our customers with more choice to suit their travel plans and enables customers to seamlessly fly to a host of unique destinations in Mexico.”
“Emirates customers can also now fly directly between select US points and cities in Mexico.”
“This new offering is in line with our Fly Better promise and convenience that can be felt by our customers when flying with us and we look forward to further developing the partnership in the future to elevate its benefits to our customers.”
Adding to this was Javier Suarez, Executive Vice President & Chief Planning and Alliances Officer at Viva Aerobus:
“We are excited about this new partnership with Emirates. Connecting Emirates route from Barcelona with our Mexico City network of routes, allows Emirates’ passengers to seamlessly reach many other destinations in Mexico and the US. Equally, this opportunity allows passengers from the many Mexican cities to make a short stop in Mexico city, board an Emirates flight to reach the great city of Barcelona and/or to continue their trip to Dubai and beyond. All of this with the convenience of buying a single ticket”.
Overall…
It remains clear that the deal signed between Emirates & Viva Aerobus is significant.
For the UAE carrier, it further boosts their connectivity in and out of Mexico City, and opens up revenue opportunities.
Furthermore, for Viva Aerobus, they acquire a big player in the airline industry to encourage growth at their own carrier.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how this interlining agreement performs from Mexico City.
