Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of the world’s largest international airline, has placed a firm order for five additional Boeing 777F freighters.
This $1 billion investment will significantly boost the carrier’s cargo capacity and operational capabilities.
The new aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2026, bringing Emirates’ total order book to an impressive 315 wide-body aircraft.
This strategic move comes in response to the division’s exceptional performance in the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year. Load factors and tonnages surpassed pre-pandemic levels in FY Q1.
Boosting Global Trade Capabilities
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, emphasized the importance of this expansion.
He stated, “Demand for our world-class product and services is growing exponentially.” “This is further amplified by Dubai’s Economic Agenda.”
This strategic agenda aims to double foreign trade and solidify Dubai’s position as a global trading hub.
The additional Boeing 777 freighters will increase Emirates SkyCargo’s main deck cargo capacity by 30%.
This substantial growth will allow the airline to better serve its global customers by deploying much-needed space in key markets.

Freighter Fleet Modernization
Emirates SkyCargo’s investment aligns with its commitment to operating one of the youngest and most efficient fleets in the industry.
As new aircraft join the fleet, older freighters will be retired, ensuring optimal performance and reduced environmental impact.
Emirates plans to expand its freighter fleet to 17 aircraft by the end of 2025. The airline has ordered 10 Boeing 777Fs and is currently converting 10 Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters.
The diverse fleet mix, comprising 777s, 777Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s, will offer customers enhanced flexibility and efficiency in global cargo transportation.

Future Growth and Market Assessment
