Emirates is set to further strengthen its presence in Madagascar with a significant expansion of its flight schedule. Beginning April 2, 2025, the airline will increase its service to the island nation from four to six weekly flights.
The frequency increase comes in response to robust passenger demand since its successful launch in September 2024.
This move also supports Madagascar’s burgeoning tourism sector. By offering increased connectivity and capacity, the airline further contributes to the country’s ambitious tourism growth targets.
A Response to Soaring Demand
The decision to enhance service stems from the overwhelming popularity of Emirates flights between Antananarivo and Dubai.
With existing flights consistently operating at near full capacity, the additional flights will not only provide travelers with greater flexibility and choice but also significantly increase the number of seats available on this vital route.
Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for West Asia and the Indian Ocean, was pleased with the expansion, stating, “We are thrilled to enhance our services to Madagascar to meet the growing travel demand.”
“This expansion will not only improve connectivity and provide more choices for travelers but also strengthen the economic ties between Madagascar and the UAE.”

Boosting Madagascar’s Tourism Potential
Emirates has actively played a pivotal role in promoting Madagascar as a premier leisure destination within its extensive global network.
Recognizing the island’s unique allure, the airline has undertaken a series of initiatives to showcase its captivating offerings to the world.
These efforts include organizing familiarization trips for travel agencies from key source markets, allowing them to experience first-hand the island’s breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage.
Madagascar boasts a wealth of attractions, including three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, renowned for their exceptional natural beauty and biodiversity.
With Emirates’ expanded service, travelers from around the globe will have even greater access to these captivating destinations. This further solidifies Madagascar’s position as a must-visit travel destination.

A Strong Signal of Confidence
The Malagasy government has warmly welcomed Emirates’ decision to increase its service frequency. His Excellency Dr. Manambahoaka Valéry F. Ramonjavelo, Minister of Transport and Meteorology, gave comment on behalf of the government.
He emphasized that the expanded service serves as a strong vote of confidence in Madagascar’s tourism sector and the nation’s overall development.
Viviane Dewa, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, echoed this sentiment, stating, “This expansion will significantly support our ambitious tourism targets.”
“We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Emirates to welcome more international tourists and contribute to the sustainable growth of our tourism sector.”

Expanded Cargo Capacity
Emirates’ expanded service will not only benefit passengers but also significantly enhance cargo capacity between Madagascar and key global markets.
Operating with its modern Boeing 777 aircraft, Emirates offers substantial cargo capacity in the bellyhold. This enables the efficient transport of imports and exports, thereby supporting the growth of Madagascar’s economy.
A Bright Future for Madagascar
With its enhanced service, Emirates is poised to play a crucial role in connecting Madagascar to the world and unlocking its immense tourism potential.
By providing greater accessibility, supporting the growth of the tourism sector, and facilitating trade, Emirates is making a significant contribution to the prosperity and development of this beautiful island nation.
