Emirates has taken a step forward in enhancing its passenger experience with the introduction of its first Boeing 777 featuring a complete cabin overhaul.
The newly refurbished aircraft will make its maiden voyage to Geneva as flight EK83 today. The first flight marks a further stepping stone in the airline’s commitment to luxury and comfort.
Refurbishment Ahead of Schedule
Emirates accomplished the extensive renovation process in just 37 days, despite it typically taking weeks to complete. This was an impressive feat that highlighted Emirates’ ground capabilities.
Even more remarkably, the aircraft is entering service four days ahead of its originally scheduled deployment.
A dedicated team of 175 engineers and technicians at Emirates Engineering in Dubai conceptualized and executed the refurbishment work in-house.
For those curious about the intricate process behind this transformation, Emirates has released a captivating timelapse video.
This visual journey offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how the airline’s seasoned in-house engineering team meticulously gutted, fitted, and refurbished the 777’s cabins.
Sir Tim Clark Comments
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, spoke enthusiastically on the latest development. “Emirates continues to fulfill our commitment to delivering an unmatched onboard experience.”
“With the introduction of our latest Boeing 777 featuring new signature interiors, we’re raising the industry benchmark for premium travel.”
Clark emphasized the exclusivity and privacy offered by the new Business Class cabin, complemented by Emirates’ best-in-class suite of onboard products.
He also highlighted the addition of the popular Premium Economy cabin, rated one of the industry’s best. “It injects modern sophistication into the flying experience and is carefully designed for enhanced comfort,” Clark added.
Premium Economy: A New Level of Comfort
The refurbished 777 now boasts a Premium Economy cabin, a new offering for Emirates on this aircraft type.
This cabin features 24 seats arranged in three rows with a 2-4-2 layout. The cream leather seats, accentuated by elegant wood panel finishings, offer passengers a truly premium experience.
These seats provide enhanced comfort with a generous 38-inch pitch and a width of 19.5 inches. They can recline up to 8 inches, allowing passengers ample space to stretch out and relax.
The 6-way adjustable headrests ensure that travelers can find their perfect position for rest or work.
Business Class: Luxury Redefined
Emirates designed the new 777 Business Class cabin to create a warm, inviting atmosphere, incorporating thoughtful refinements that enhance privacy for customers.
The cabin’s aesthetic echoes the light and airy design elements of Emirates’ iconic A380 experience. It features soft leather cream seats accented with champagne trim and lighter wood panelling.
Set in a 1-2-1 configuration, the 38 Business Class seats each offer direct aisle access. The ergonomically designed seats, measuring 20.7 inches in width, convert into spacious flat beds extending up to 78.6 inches.
Each seat comes with a personal mini bar, a table suitable for dining or working, multiple charging outlets for personal devices, and a 23-inch HD screen – one of the largest in the skies.
Economy Class: Comfort for All
The Economy Class cabin hasn’t been overlooked in this refurbishment. It now features 256 seats adorned in a soothing color palette of soft greys and blues.
The ergonomically designed seats include full leather head rests with flexible side panels that can be adjusted vertically for optimal support.
Emirates’ Rollout Continues
This refurbishment is just the beginning of Emirates’ ambitious plans. The airline has selected another 80 Boeing 777 aircraft for similar upgrades as part of a massive $3 billion investment aimed at elevating the customer experience across its fleet.
In the coming weeks, passengers traveling to Tokyo Haneda and Brussels will also have the opportunity to experience these upgraded Boeing 777s. Emirates is set to announce more destinations served by this aircraft type in the near future.
Overall, this project has had a significant impact on the local aviation ecosystem, involving more than 10 major partners. Together, they have hired hundreds of skilled workers to support various aspects of the refurbishment program.
As Emirates continues to roll out these refurbished aircraft across its network, travelers can look forward to a consistently superior flying experience, whether they’re aboard a Boeing 777 or an Airbus A380.
