Emirates Expands Melbourne Service with Third Non-Stop Flight

Emirates will add a third non-stop service between Dubai and Melbourne from 30 March 2025, to be operated by its retrofitted B777-300ER aircraft.

Emirates is set to launch a third non-stop service between Dubai and Melbourne on 30 March 2025. The airline will introduce a newly retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to support this service.

The upgraded widebody aircraft features the airline’s premium Economy product and latest-generation Business class seats.

Currently, Emirates operates two daily non-stop flights between Dubai and Melbourne using Airbus A380s, along with a daily flight connecting Dubai to Melbourne via Singapore.

The airline will discontinue its Singapore-Melbourne operations on 30 March 2025, simultaneously introducing the third direct Dubai-Melbourne flight and a fourth Dubai-Singapore service.

Flight Details: Third Melbourne Service


The new service will utilize flight numbers EK404/405. Emirates flight EK404 will depart Dubai at 21:15hrs, arriving in Melbourne at 17:40hrs the following day. The return flight EK405 will leave Melbourne at 23:55hrs, reaching Dubai at 07:00hrs the next morning.

This additional flight provides customers with more convenient schedules and enhanced connectivity, offering seamless access to 27 European cities, including major destinations like London, Paris, and Frankfurt.

Premium Aircraft Configuration

The retrofitted Boeing 777 features a comprehensive cabin layout that includes eight First Class Suites, forty Business Class seats, twenty-four Premium Economy seats, and two hundred fifty-six Economy Class seats.

Premium Economy Highlights

Emirates’ Premium Economy cabins, recently awarded ‘Best in Class’ at the 2024 Business Traveller Asia-Pacific awards, offer cream leather seats with six-way adjustable headrests. The seats provide a thirty-eight-inch pitch, are nineteen-and-a-half inches wide, and feature an eight-inch recline for enhanced comfort.

Business Class Cabin

The Business Class cabin provides an exceptional travel experience with twenty-point-seven-inch-wide seats that convert to flat-beds and recline up to seventy-eight-point-six inches. The four abreast layout ensures every passenger has aisle access.

Additional amenities include a personal mini bar, a table for dining or working, multiple device charging outlets, and a twenty-three-inch HD personal screen. A small mid-flight refreshment bar adds to the convenience.

Expanded Premium Economy Capacity

With this new deployment, Emirates will offer three thousand four hundred seventy-two weekly Premium Economy seats across Melbourne and Sydney, enabling more travelers to experience its premium amenities.

Broader Australian Operations


Emirates continues to expand its Australian presence by reinstating its second Perth service from 1 December. This will offer nearly twelve thousand weekly seats to and from Perth. The airline has also restored Adelaide services on 28 October and now operates seventy seven weekly services across five Australian gateways.

Extending beyond its flight operations, the airline employs hundreds of Australians globally. The UAE carrier maintains a national aviation and tourism business footprint.

Emirates also supports key events like the Australian Open and Collingwood Football Club. It has over two hundred thirty million dollars invested in sports and arts sponsorships,

The recent UAE-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Emirates-Qantas codeshare partnership underscore the strategic relationship.

Emirates can transport over two thousand three hundred fifty tonnes of cargo weekly. It offers codeshare access to more than one hundred twenty destinations, including sixty points across Australia and New Zealand. Over fifteen million passengers have been carried in ten years of partnership.
