A Delta Air Lines flight en route to Minneapolis from Paris has declared a general emergency.

Delta Air Lines flight DL153 declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst over the United Kingdom and is currently diverting to London.

Diversion to London

Having declared an emergency from the cruise over UK airspace at FL240, flight DL153 has expedited a descent and diversion.

The flight appears to be making for London Gatwick (LGW), although this will be confirmed shortly.

Delta flight DL153 is now continuing descent below 10,000 feet. According to the online source Flight Emergency, the diversion is due to a medical emergency.

Delta flight DL153 has now landed at London Gatwick, having expedited a diversion due to a medical emergency earlier this morning.

Flight Details

Delta Air Lines flight DL153, an Airbus A330-200, departed from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) at 11:02 local time this morning.

Scheduled departure time for the service to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) was 10:10 local.

The flight had then proceeded normally and was still on climb over UK airspace when the emergency was declared.

The aircraft conducting the DL153 transatlantic service was an Airbus A330-300, registered N804NW. This is a 20.8 year old widebody aircraft belonging to the US carrier Delta Air Lines.

It has been in operational service with the airline since October 2008. Prior to its service with Delta, the airframe was operated by Northwest Airlines.
