Embraer to Invest US$3.5 Billion in Brazil’s Aerospace Future

Embraer plans to invest US$3.5 billion in Brazil's aerospace future by 2030, as part of its five year growth plan.

Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer (NYSE: ERJ) has unveiled a significant investment plan, earmarking approximately US$3.5 billion for the next five years.

This ambitious initiative was announced during the “Mission 6 of the New Industry Brazil (Nova Indústria Brasil/NIB) – Technologies of interest for national sovereignty and defense” ceremony in Brasília.

It underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and growth within the Brazilian aerospace sector.

The event saw the presence of prominent figures. Notable attendees were Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and other key officials.

Embraer 5-Year Growth Plan


This substantial investment aligns with Embraer’s current operational strategies and its comprehensive growth trajectory for the coming five years.

The plan encompasses a multi-pronged approach, focusing on increased aircraft production to meet rising global demand. It will see strategic business expansion into promising international markets, and a significant push towards developing sustainable technologies.

Embraer is particularly focused on contributing to a low-carbon economy within the aerospace industry. This recognizes the growing importance of environmentally responsible practices.

eVTOL Technology

A key highlight of Embraer’s investment strategy is the continued development of its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle. This is spearheaded by EVE, a company backed by Embraer S.A.

This innovative technology positions Embraer at the forefront of the urban air mobility revolution. It promises to transform transportation in cities worldwide.

New Industry Brazil Program


Francisco Gomes Neto, President and CEO of Embraer gave comment at the recent event. “The New Industry Brazil program plays a crucial role in revitalizing the nation’s competitiveness on the global stage.”

He emphasized the importance of the partnership with Embraer and the broader Defense Industrial Base and highlighted its potential to boost exports of Brazilian products.

It will create high-quality jobs and generate income for Brazilian citizens, and ensure the nation’s mastery of critical technologies essential for national sovereignty.

The collaborative efforts of the Brazilian government, universities, and industry have deeply intertwined with Embraer’s success story.

This tri-partite partnership has been instrumental in positioning Brazil as a leader in innovation. This is particularly evident within the highly competitive and technologically advanced aerospace and defense sectors.

This collaborative model fosters a dynamic environment for research and development, allowing Brazil to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving industry.

Attracting Aerospace Talent

Beyond technological advancements, the partnership has also been pivotal in attracting, retaining, and developing top-tier talent within Brazil. With a global workforce of 23,500 employees, including 18,000 in Brazil, Embraer’s current employment numbers have already surpassed pre-pandemic levels.
