Embraer and Avfuel have joined forces to significantly boost the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB).
This collaboration marks a major step forward in Embraer’s journey towards net-zero emission flights.
Building on an existing agreement from July 2021, the new partnership significantly increases SAF deliveries to Embraer.
Previous Supply to FBO
Previously, Avfuel supplied one 8,000-gallon truckload of Neste MY SAF per quarter to Sheltair MLB, the fixed-base operator (FBO) responsible for storing and handling Embraer’s fuel.
Under the updated agreement, which began in April, weekly deliveries are now in place, bringing the expected total for 2024 to 240,000 U.S. gallons – a substantial increase compared to past years.
This shift to weekly deliveries translates to a significant environmental benefit. Each truckload reduces carbon emissions by an estimated 19 metric tons, resulting in a projected total reduction of 570 metric tons for the year.
