In the last few moments, easyJet flight U28538, originally bound for London Gatwick, has declared an emergency not long after departure from Faro.
G-EZBT is understood to be the aircraft involved in this incident.

Unconfirmed reports are coming in that it was an engine-related incident, although we are still working to confirm the cause.
Returned to the Gate Safely…
U28538 has returned to the gate safely. Once again, it is currently unclear what the nature of the emergency was, but was clearly serious enough to cause the aircraft to come to a full stop on the runway.
Furthermore, it may have stopped on the runway for emergency crews to look the aircraft over potentially.
Aircraft On The Move…
The Airbus A319 is now on the move and has vacated the runway, with operations now set to resume.
Operations Will Be Disrupted…
With U28538 stuck for now on the runway, that will mean operations at the Portuguese airport will be disrupted, due to them only having a singular runway.
Stopped on the Runway…
U28538 has appeared to have come to a full stop on the runway and has not vacated.
TOUCHDOWN!
TOUCHDOWN! easyJet flight U28538 originally bound for London Gatwick has appeared to have touched down safely back into Faro following it’s emergency broadcast minutes after departure.
Furthermore, the cause of the emergency is not yet known, but was serious enough to make a quick return back to the Portuguese airport.
As soon as we have more information pertinent to the cause of the incident, then we will update you accordingly.
For now, this remains a developing story pending any additional updates that may come through in due course.

U28538 has exited it’s holds to the south of the airport and is heading towards base leg for an immediate emergency landing.

It is understood that G-EZBT is the aircraft involved in the current incident.
Furthermore, as per Planespotters, G-EZBT is a 17.3 year old Airbus A319-100 that was delivered to the airline in April 2007.
The aircraft did a stint between 2018-2020 at the European subsidiary to the airline in orange.
Moreover, of the A319-100 variant, easyJet UK has 47 in their fleet, with an average age of 16.0 years.
