easyJet Flight U26350 Lisbon-London Declares Emergency

easyJet flight U26350, an A320-200 arriving from Lisbon, declared an emergency during its approach to London Gatwick earlier this evening.

An easyJet flight inbound from Lisbon declared an emergency during its approach to London Gatwick earlier this evening.

EasyJet flight U26350 was conducting an approach to London Gatwick Airport when flight crew squawked emergency transponder code 7700.

At the time of the declaration, the aircraft, an Airbus A320-200 was establishing on approach and passing through 2000 feet.

The nature of the problem prompting the declaration is not yet known.

Flight U26350 was a regular scheduled service from Lisbon Airport (LIS). Flight data shows the aircraft made an on-time departure from Lisbon at 2001 local time on 26 December.

The flighted then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL360 for the northerly service to the United Kingdom.

Descent and initial approach procedures were similarly conducted normally. The flight was under vectoring for an approach to London Gatwick airport and had carried out the early stages of the descent.

Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 at 2222 UTC, as the flight passed through 2000 feet on approach. The flight then continued the assigned approach into London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

The aircraft conducting the U26350 service from Lisbon, Portugal was an Airbus A320-200, registered G-EJCA. This is 11.1 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet.

It has been in operational service with the airline since December 2022. Prior to its present service, the aircraft was operated by Japanese carrier Peach. Peach previously operated the aircraft since its initial delivery from the factory in December 2013.
