An easyJet flight operating from Paris to Corfu Kerkyra Island has declared an emergency, squawking code 7700 whilst en route and is currently diverting.
easyJet flight U24613, an Airbus A320-200 operating from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) declared the emergency whilst transiting Italian airspace.
Having declared an emergency from cruising flight, the operating crew has elected to divert to nearby Venice. The nature of the emergency prompting the offtrack diversion is not yet known.
Flight crew squawked transponder code 7700 in the cruise at flight level FL380, at 05:58 UTC. The crew then expedited a descent and diversion to Venice.

The flight expedited a diversion after declaring an emergency whilst en route to Corfu Kerkyra Island (CFU) earlier this morning. easyJet flight U24613 has now landed at Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

Flight data shows that easyJet flight U24613 departed Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport at 06:53 local time this morning. The flight then set course normally for Corfu Airport (CFU). Flight crew established the aircraft at cruising altitude of FL380 (38,000 feet) for the southwestward flight to Corfu Kerkyra Island.
The aircraft was on flight plan track in the cruise when the emergency declared. The flight was passing to the north of Venice when the emergency was declared at 05:58 UTC. the crew then expedited the diversion to Venice Marco Polo Airport.
The aircraft conducting the U24613 service from Paris was an Airbus A320-200, registered OE-ICF. This is a 13.3 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet Europe. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in May 2011.
