easyJet Flight Nice-Paris Declares Emergency

easyJet flight U21645 from Nice to Paris Beauvais (BVA) has declared an emergency whilst en route and is diverting to Lyon.

An easyJet flight operating a regional service from Nice to Paris diverted to Lyon due to a medical emergency on board earlier today.

easyJet flight U21645 declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst en route to the French capital before diverting to nearby Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS).

Flight U21645 had departed Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) at 1145 local time this morning. The flight had set course normally for Paris, climbing to flight level FL340 for the north-westerly service.

The aircraft was in cruising flight to the north of Lyon when flight crew declared the emergency squawking transponder code 7700.

Following the emergency declaration, flight crew carried out a diversion to the south of track. They conducted an immediate descent for an arrival into Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport.

According to the online source Flight Emergency, a medical emergency on board prompted the unscheduled diversion to Lyon. The aircraft then landed in Lyon at 12:42 local time this afternoon, having continued as an emergency priority.

Onwards Flight to Paris (BVA)

Flight U21645 subsequently departed from Lyon and continued its onward flight to the destination Paris Beauvais Airport (BVA).

The flight has now landed at the destination Paris Beauvais (BVA), arriving there at 14:47 local time.

The aircraft conducting the U21645 regional service was an Airbus A320-200, registered OE-IVZ. This is a 9.4 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet.

It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in February 2015.
