easyJet has expanded its popular summer route between Menorca and London Gatwick to operate as a year-round service from November 2024.

easyJet has expanded its popular summer route from Menorca to London Gatwick to operate year-round.

This network addition provides a significant boost to the Balearic island’s international connectivity throughout the winter season.

The route extension will offer an additional 16,000 seats, with flights commencing on November 6th, 2024.

With twice-weekly services, operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays, it caters to both travelers seeking winter escapes to Menorca and island residents requiring connections to London.

The agreement was announced at a press conference in Menorca by Adolfo Vilafranca, President of the Consell Insular de Menorca, Begoña Mercadal, the island’s director of Tourism Promotion.

Javier Gándara, General Director of easyJet in Southern Europe represented the airline.

This collaboration represents a major step forward in the Consell Insular’s ongoing efforts to ensure year-round air connectivity for the island.

Supporting Local Tourism

Javier Gándara expressed his delight regarding the year-round route extension. “This move not only underscores our commitment to continued growth in Spain, but also demonstrates our dedication to the Menorca community,” he stated.

“EasyJet recognizes the importance of international connections, and we are proud to contribute to Menorca’s strategy of year-round accessibility to London and beyond.”

“This agreement signifies the culmination of significant effort and collaboration aimed at strengthening the island’s connections during the low season.”

“The direct air link to London fulfills a critical demand, both for island residents seeking connections to the British capital and for UK travelers interested in visiting Menorca during the winter months (November to March).”

“Our focus remains on promoting a sustainable tourist season throughout the year. Promotional activities planned in collaboration with easyJet will specifically highlight Menorca’s cultural offerings, active tourism options, delectable cuisine, and stunning natural beauty.”

EasyJet’s Continued Investment in Menorca

The Consell Insular de Menorca and the Foundation remain dedicated to fostering air connections that support year-round tourism on the island.

This commitment ensures travelers have access to key destinations beyond the peak summer season.

Since establishing operations in the Balearic Islands over 25 years ago, easyJet has transported nearly 45 million passengers and currently offers 64 routes connecting the islands to various European and UK destinations.
