A Boeing 757 belonging to former president Donald Trump was involved in a ground incident at West Palm Beach, Florida on 12 May 2024.
According to an FAA report, the winglet of the Boeing 757 aircraft collided with the elevator assembly of a parked VistaJet corporate aircraft.
Ground Incident: West Palm Beach
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred around 1320 local time at West Palm Beach International Airport (PBI).
“A privately owned Boeing 757 landed safely at West Palm Beach International Airport around 1:20 a.m. local time on Sunday, May 12.”
“While taxiing, its winglet contacted a parked and unoccupied corporate jet,” the FAA said. “The incident occurred in an area of the airport where the FAA does not direct aircraft. The FAA is investigating.”
No injuries were reported in the ground incident. Authorities have not confirmed whether Mr Trump was aboard the aircraft at the time of the event.
He had recently held a campaign rally in New Jersey as part of the lead up to the forthcoming election.
Boeing 757-200 N757AF
The report identifies a privately owned aircraft belonging to Donald J Trump with the registration number N757AF.
N757AF is a 33 year old Boeing 757-200 registered to Donald Trump. The aircraft has been in service with the former president since 25 August 2010.
Prior to its current ownership it passed through three other operators since its delivery in June 1991.
A formal description of the aircraft’s complete damage is not yet available. The winglet is the upturned wingtip modification on the airplane wing. The purpose of the modified wingtip is to improve the aircraft’s fuel efficiency by reducing drag.
The FAA will now investigate the incident to determine the causes.
