Arajet, the Dominican Republic’s leading low-cost carrier, is set to make its highly anticipated entry into the United States market in 2025.
The airline recently received crucial approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation to launch flights connecting the Dominican Republic with New York, Miami, and Puerto Rico.
The expansion comes at a time when Arajet has already established itself as a dominant force in Dominican aviation.
Arajet Expansion Through 2024
Throughout 2024, the airline achieved remarkable success, carrying over one million passengers and consistently maintaining monthly passenger counts exceeding 100,000. This impressive performance represents more than 7% of all air traffic to and from the Dominican Republic.
Victor Pacheco, Arajet’s CEO and founder, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming U.S. launch. “This milestone marks an exciting new chapter for our airline.”
“Through these new routes, we’ll not only strengthen connections between the U.S. and Dominican Republic but also offer affordable travel options that will boost tourism and business opportunities.”
The airline’s growth has been particularly noteworthy since establishing its second hub in Punta Cana.
Currently, Arajet operates comprehensive networks from two major hubs, serving 23 destinations across the Americas. This extensive coverage has helped establish the company as the most active Dominican airline.
Open Skies Agreement
The expansion became possible through the recently implemented Open Skies agreement between the United States and the Dominican Republic.
This landmark agreement removes traditional restrictions on flight routes and frequencies between the two nations, paving the way for increased competition and better service options.
Dominican Minister of Tourism David Collado highlighted the significance of this development: “The approval of Arajet’s U.S. routes represents a major victory for our aviation sector.”
“This achievement aligns perfectly with our vision to expand Dominican airlines’ reach and enhance competitiveness in our most crucial market.”

This state-of-the-art fleet enables Arajet to provide safe, affordable connections throughout North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
