A woman was arrested on January 17, 2025, following a disruptive incident on an easyJet flight from Belfast to Manchester.
EasyJet flight U2714/EZY714, was met by police upon arrival at Manchester Airport due to the passenger’s unruly behaviour.
An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, emphasizing the airline’s primary commitment to passenger and crew safety.
“Flight EZY714 from Belfast City to Manchester on 17 January was met by police on arrival due to a passenger behaving disruptively onboard. EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations. They acted quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers was not compromised at any time.”

Manchester Police Attendance and Arrest
Greater Manchester Police were called to attend the airport around 8:50 PM local time. Upon arrival, officers arrested a woman in her 50s on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. She was subsequently taken into custody for questioning.
While official details remain limited, some passengers on the flight recounted their experiences to local media.
These accounts describe the woman’s behavior as disruptive and aggressive, causing significant discomfort and concern among fellow passengers. Video footage captured by another passenger shows the woman using coarse language and using racial slurs.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, one passenger described the behaviour. “Her language was atrocious and racist, she was making very derogatory comments about people including Muslims – at one stage she even struck out at Ukrainian people.”
The eye witness added: “She was just kicking off but I think the stewards handled it really well. It was quite disgusting behaviour.” The woman’s disruptive behaviour reportedly began about halfway into the flight.

Airline’s Approach to Disruptive Behavior
EasyJet has a strict zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behavior on its flights. The airline’s cabin crew members undergo training to assess and manage such situations effectively.
In this instance, the crew acted swiftly and professionally to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safe arrival of the flight.
The aviation industry is facing a concerning rise in such inflight disruptive behavior. This includes a range of incidents, from verbal and physical aggression towards crew members and fellow passengers to non-compliance with safety instructions.
Factors contributing to this trend may include increased stress levels among travelers, heightened emotions during air travel, and alcohol consumption. These incidents pose a serious threat to flight safety and the overall well-being of passengers and crew.
Airlines and aviation authorities are working to address this issue through enhanced training for cabin crew, stricter enforcement of regulations, and increased awareness campaigns aimed at promoting responsible passenger behavior.
Ongoing Investigation
The incident remains under investigation by the relevant authorities. The exact reasons and motivations behind the woman’s behaviour remain unclear. Further details may emerge as the investigation progresses.
