Discover Airlines, the Lufthansa Group’s premier leisure carrier in Germany, is moving forward with a strong growth and innovation program.

The move will see the airline expand both its Airbus narrowbody and widebody fleet components, as it taps the short to medium haul, as well as the long haul end of the leisure market.

With plans to significantly expand its fleet and introduce further travel options, Discover Airlines is positioning itself as a formidable player in the burgeoning leisure travel market.

Fleet Expansion and Modernization

Over the next three years, Discover Airlines will welcome a total of six Airbus A330-300s and at least three Airbus A320s to its fleet.

This strategic expansion will see the airline’s fleet grow from its current 27 aircraft to 33 by the end of 2027. The new A330s are slated to enter service by mid-2027, while the A320s will take to the skies as early as 2025.

As part of this fleet modernization, three Airbus A330-200s will be phased out in 2026 as their leases expire. This carefully planned transition ensures that Discover Airlines maintains a modern and efficient fleet, optimized for the demands of leisure travelers.

The choice to continue with Airbus A330s for long-haul routes and A320s for short and medium-haul flights is no coincidence.

These aircraft types have proven ideal for the leisure travel segment, offering the perfect balance of capacity, range, and efficiency. This fleet composition allows Discover Airlines to serve a wide array of holiday destinations while maintaining operational excellence.

Elevating the Long-Haul Experience

Discover Airlines will introduce a state-of-the-art product on its Airbus A330 fleet starting in 2027. This gradual rollout will bring significant enhancements across all three travel classes.

Business Class passengers can look forward to an All Aisle Access (AAA) configuration, providing unparalleled comfort and privacy.

This layout ensures that every Business Class traveler has direct aisle access, eliminating the need to disturb fellow passengers when moving about the cabin.

Across all classes, seats will be upgraded to offer substantially improved comfort. This enhancement aims to make the journey as enjoyable as the destination. This is especially crucial for long-haul flights to far-flung holiday spots.

Entertainment systems will also receive a major upgrade, featuring larger screens with enhanced resolution. Discover will implement this improvement across all travel classes. It will ensure that every passenger can enjoy crisp, clear content throughout their flight.

At the time of writing, specific details of these product renewals are still being finalized. However, the airline promises to unveil more information in the coming months. This tantalizing preview has already generated excitement among travel enthusiasts and industry watchers alike.

Weare expanding our capacity and upgrading to next-generation products. We’re poised to serve the leisure travel segment more comprehensively, efficiently, and flexibly than ever before.”

This expansion and upgrade strategy is not just about adding more seats or newer planes. It’s a holistic approach to enhancing the entire travel experience, from booking to destination.
