Delta Flight DL288 New York-Venice Declares Emergency

Delta Air Lines flight DL288, a Boeing 767-300ER from New York, declared an emergency whilst en route to Venice, and has diverted to Paris.

A Delta Air Lines flight inbound from New York to Venice has declared an emergency whilst en route, and is currently diverting to Paris.

The Delta Air Lines flight DL288, a Boeing 767-300ER from New York, declared the emergency with transponder code 7700 whilst inbound to Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

Delta flight DL288 declared the emergency whilst in transit through French airspace, and has now established on a diversion track to Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG). The nature of the emergency prompting the unscheduled diversion is not yet known.

The aircraft was in cruising flight at FL370 (37,000 feet) when flight squawked transponder code 7700 at 06:35 UTC. The flight is now on descent for the Paris diversion airport.

Weather for the flight’s arrival in Paris CDG this morning is visual conditions (VFR) with light wind and visibility 10 kilometres or more. Active runways for the arrival are RWY 08/09.

Delta flight DL288 is now under vectoring for an approach to Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG). The flight is currently passing through 2,000 feet on descent. The flight has maintained the priority squawk code 7700.

The nature of the emergency remains unknown. We will update this as soon as we know further details.

Landed Paris (CDG)

Delta Air Lines originally scheduled flight DL288 from New York to Venice. Having declared an emergency and initiated a diversion earlier this morning, the flight has now landed. The aircraft has now cleared the runway at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
